was established in year . The post-graduate department was established in . Our post-graduate department is aided. The department established research centre and started M.Phil. course from 2007-2008. of department are Prof. I.A. Nirgude, Prof. A.B. Rahane,  Prof. N.C. Pawar, Prof. Dr. S. G. Vaidya and Prof. Smt. S. R. Chavan. Whereas, Dr. B. R. Adik, Dr. B. S. khurud, Dr. R.G. Rasal, Dr. Suhas Avhad, Dr. B.Y. Deshmukh are the visiting faculty and research guides. At present 498, 109 and 06 students are taking their education at UG, PG and M.Phil. level, respectively. Department runs for students and faculties with. Department runs 2 short term courses i) Self help groups and Banking Practices, ii) Tax consultancy, to the UG students. University Grants Commission sanctioned two minor research projects entitled ‘An overview of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme' to Prof. I.A. Nirgude with financial assistance and ‘An Evaluation of Expenditure for Development of Scheduled caste under special component plan in Shrirampur Taluka- A case study (1997-98 to 2006-07), to Prof. Dr. S. G. Vaidya with financial assistance - Both the projects are ongoing. The department of Economics regularly organizes various academic activities such as workshops, seminars, conferences etc. The details are as follows. a) One day sponsored by University of Pune on 16 th March, 2005. b) 30 th Annual national conference of Marathi Arthashastra Parishad sponsored by University of Pune on 26 th – 28 th November, 2006. c) One day and on: 7 th June 2008, sponsored by University of Pune. d) One day state level seminar on Can a package of Rs. 7, 16,801- corers stop the farmer's suicides? Economic shocks of inflation to Indian economy sponsored by University of Pune on: 24 th December, 2008. e) Two day state level sponsored by UGC, on: 18th - 19 th March, 2010. Active participation of the faculty in national conferences, seminar and workshop is as follows :
Faculty published two books i) Prof. I. A. Nirgude is a co-author of the textbook for XI STD “Economics”, Seth Publication, Pune, in the year 2006. ii) Prof. N. C. Pawar contributed for a book on general knowledge “Super General Studies” at Arts and Commerce College, Pusegaon. The success rate of the department in university examination is almost above 100% and 33 and 22 students passed in first class with distinction at UG and PG examination of University of Pune, respectively. Two students of the department Mr. S. S. Mengal and Miss. Swapnali Khandare qualified SET examination. Department organized educational tour for B.A. and M.A. students. Department organizes expert lecture series for UG and PG student and also organized various functions like Welcome Function, Population Day, seminar on Budget , Farewell Function etc. Department organized NATIONAL LEVEL SEMINAR ON dated on 6th and 7th January 2012. |
