R. B. Narayanrao Borawake College is one of the largest two faculty colleges in the jurisdiction of University of Pune with 2454 students, of which 145 are paying and others avail the facility of scholarships, freeships and freeships for economically backward class.

Dropout rate is minimized through measures such as ‘Earn and Learn' scheme, parent teacher association, internal evaluation through tests and home assignments, book bank, students' aid fund, counseling cell and remedial coaching. College has a placement cell and a number of companies approach college for campus interview and offer placements.

Competitive examination guidance centre provides coaching through foundation course and virtual learning centre. College runs the scheme for entry in services for SC and ST students. The centre is provided with photocopier, computer, LCD projector and reference books. The students are prepared for such examinations via special guidance.

Twenty six students have passed NET / SET in the last five years. Academic performance of the college students is consistently better than that of University. We are proud to mention that UG and PG students of college consistently occupy position in merit list of university of Pune in many subjects. Some of them are toppers and gold medalist. Apart from Government scholarship, management provides Rayat Sevak Scholarship to ward s of the employee. Students welfare activities such as insurance, canteen, ladies welfare and earn and learn scheme benefit to them. Vidyarthini manch (Women's forum) looks after the needs of ladies students for guidance and counseling. Every year college organizes competitions like rangoli, fashion designing, etc. Number of lady students participates in various workshops and seminars. The institute is having one of the best education culture and rich tradition of educationist as founders, management and supporters, better qualities are inculcated in students and other stake holders. The problems of sexual harassment are not yet been noticed in the college. Grievance redressal cell looks after the complaints of the students if any but there is no major grievance redressed.

Developing life skills, good citizenship, community orientations and personality is achieved through the continuous activities and programmes such as vivek vahini, celebrations of anniversaries of social reformers, yoga, self defense, career training, workshops on communication skills and interview technique, English speaking courses, helping hand to flood affected people etc . Institute has appointed security guards in the campus. Campus supervision by the faculty helps to maintain discipline and security of students and campus. College has pride alumni in different fields and organization. Students participate in various extracurricular activities, sports and had notable achievement at inter university, state / zonal and national level. College magazine has received prizes at University level.

College constitutes students council every year as per section 40 of Maharashtra University Act 1994. Various committees are formed and remain active every year amongst the faculties and student representatives through which various academic and administrative activities are carried out.

Best practices in student support include ‘earn and learn scheme', placement cell, entry in services for SC/ST students, remedial coaching scheme, soft skill development, virtual learning center and access to all other students through YCM Open University centre.

Teacher-Parent Association :

An association named ‘Teacher-Parent Association’ exists in the college in which a group of 20 to 30 students are being adopted by the concerned teacher and mentored throughout the year for their personal, academic and extracurricular activities.

Parent Meets :

Performance of the students in different activities is noted down and communicated to their parents by organizing parent meets.

Calendar programmes :

Mentoring programmes at various occasions such as national festivals and other important occasions are planned in the calendar.

Samartha Bharat Abhiyaan :

Member of planning commission of India and Ex Vice Chancellor Hon. Dr. Narendra Jadhav introduced a prestigious scheme in the colleges affiliated to University of Pune called ‘Samartha Bharat Abhiyaan’ with the aim of enhancing social values in the education. Programmes like tree plantation-each one, plant one (Motto), educational awareness, cleanliness campaign -hagandari mukta (Nirmal gram yojana), Social integration, eradication of drug addiction, leadership qualities, health awareness, history of village, survey of village, Akshay Prakash yojana, save water, imparting entrepreneur skills among villagers, GIS mapping of a model village, forming self help groups of women, etc were undertaken by the institution under this scheme. Students, teachers and local management actively participated in it. Consequently the village Jalgaon, Tahsil Rahata grabbed in couple of awards from Government of Maharashtra, which was adapted by the college. Honorable President of India expressed her satisfaction over it. Such activities are always positively responded by the college through which mentoring of students is achieved.

Karmveer Vidya Prabodhini :

Parent institution, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Satara runs an academy named ‘Karmveer Vidya Prabodhini’ which acts as a mentor to the students. It conducts competitive examinations like ’Rayat Talent Search’ (RTS) in the colleges of the institution. The students are motivated through counseling to participate in these programmes.

Competitive Examinations Guidance Cell :

Mentoring the students is also achieved through competitive examinations guidance cell in the college through lecture series.

Virtual Learning Centre :

The college has established a ‘Virtual Learning Centre’ which provides three way connectivity. College has tie up with Yashvantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University, Nasik that provides online guidance to the interested students. Chanakya Institute of Career Guidance, a recognized institute from Pune runs by an Ex IAS officer Mr. Avinash Dharmadhikari and other eminent person’s guide through this virtual center. It acts as an effective mentoring and inspiring mechanism in the learning process.
