was established in the year and teaching of physics as a special level began in 1968. At present four faculty members are contributing. Two faculty members are awarded with M.Phil. and one faculty member has submitted his doctoral thesis to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad. One faculty is registered for his Ph. D. in Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad and another is on the way of registration. Thus the faculty is adequate and competent to teach the subject at undergraduate level.
Students admitted to first year are coming from both rural and semi urban areas with varied socioeconomic status and moderate to good language proficiency.
Recently revised the syllabus of F. Y. B. Sc., S. Y. B. Sc. and T. Y. B. Sc. in the year 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11, respectively. Faculty of the department is actively participated in syllabus revision by suggesting their views in more than 06 workshops organized by University at various colleges.
The results of the department are noteworthy to mention. The success rate of T. Y. B. Sc. students in last 5 years is as follows – 
120% in Year 2005-06.
125% in Year 2006-07.
141% in Year 2007-08.
154% in Year 2008-09.
158.74% in Year 2009-10.
The department has departmental library which consists of . It is of great help to the students for their quick referencing and academic findings. Department has two computers with internet facility and printer, spacious well equipped laboratories, GM counter, Signal generators, Cathode ray oscilloscopes, dark room and other infrastructural facilities.
Faculty uses modern and power point presentations for effective teaching –learning process. All faculties are engaged in academic and personal counseling of the students.
The faculty members have attended The department has organised a state level seminar on the best topics as well as university level seminar sponsored by University of Pune.
For overall development of the students and to develop the presentation skills of the students, department provides them opportunities by conducting seminars at S. Y. B. Sc. and T. Y. B. Sc. level. As a part of curriculum T. Y. B.Sc. students have to prepare project report.
In future prospectus the department visualizes starting M. Sc. physics.
